Character Design, Week 1
So I'm currently doing 3 different Schoolism courses, which I signed up to quite spontaneously about 3 months ago. They are "Caricature with Jason Seiler", "Gesture Drawing with Louis Gonzales" and "Character Design with Stephen Silver". I am really enjoying having little projects to do each week and while it can be time consuming, I feel like I am at quite a crucial stage in my life in terms of personal and artistic development, so I am feeling pretty gung-ho and I am learning a lot.
This week I started my Character Design course (I am already a fair bit further along with the other two courses and will probably post some more work from those in the coming weeks). The first lecture and assignment for Character Design is pretty low pressure; we were given a simple written description of a character and asked to submit one finished drawing to allow Stephen Silver to gauge our skill levels and have an understanding of the kinds of things we need to learn. I got a little carried away and did 3 versions of the character. I am terribly excited about this course. There is probably nothing in the world that I enjoy more than character design. Yay!
