BBQ fun happy times!
I've decided to reinvigorate this blog as it still probably gets more web traffic than all of my other social media combined.
So here's some happy animals. I am having a BBQ tomorrow.

A Zombie A Day on Tumblr.
Well, I'm finally gonna do it. I am moving to Tumblr. I have already transported this entire blog over there and that is where I will continue my journey. Sorry Blogger, you have served me well, but you are quite simply not "up-with-the-times". I may occasionally still drop in here and post the odd tidbit, but I expect my laziness will mean that will happen less and less.
Sooo here is a peek at what you can expect to enjoy over at my new Tumblr home: ZOMBIE A DAY!
A new zombie every day. No excuses (and I say this more to motivate myself than anything else). Here is zombie number one: ROLLER GIRL.
Head on over to my Tumblr account to stay up to date with the growing horde.

Old Lady on the Tram
I have been incredibly slack with my personal work for a while now.. I want that to change. Here is a quick value painting done from an oldish sketch... Time to get back in the game now!

Tank Girl fan art.
This week I decided to enter the OzComics weekly Facebook challenge. I've been a silent observer for a couple of months now and have entertained the thought of jumping in, but it wasn't until they announced this topic that I could no longer resist temptation. Jamie Hewlett is a hero of mine and the fact that Tank Girl is just beyond awesome goes without saying. I've tried my best to do her justice here. I am not a very strong line artist, I feel like I work a lot better in a painterly style so this was a challenge for me. I obviously still have a lot to learn and since I was working entirely digitally I think my linework was somewhat restricted. It is missing those lovely blobs and shapes that happen naturally when done with real ink, and it's also, let's face it, just pretty messy and incoherent! I also chose to use a fairly restricted colour palette which I feel is working OK.. Overall this was a lot of fun and is quite different to my usual stuff. And now I had better get back to all the work and homework that I SHOULD have been doing these past two days....

A caricature..
My Week 5 assignment from my Schoolism course;
"Caricature with Jason Seiler". This is the first caricature that I've
done for the course that I have felt is worthy of sharing. I hope it's
pretty clear who it's meant to be!

Stalker
Well, I was working on this before Christmas for a Chow Challenge over at conceptart.org. Unfortunately though, the 'joy of the season' got in the way and I never finished it in time for polling. I was originally hoping to detail it more but now I am discouraged and dumping it in the 'has-been' basket. I do love Chow though, and I swear, I swear, I swear I'm gonna do LOADS more of them...!

Barbarion cuties
Just did these little guys for fun. It's a portrait of Barbarion, a band some mates are in. They are big, manly men. I think I captured their likeness here!

The Aquarium Cafe
Did a little paintover of a recent sketch.. I did this sketch in a local cafe that used to be an aquarium. I used to love visiting the aquarium when I was growing up; there was a huge variety of fish there and they even had a small crocodile (which, in retrospect, was kinda cruel given the size of its tank). When I first moved out of home I decided to get goldfish, and I loved watching them swim around in their bowl. Unfortunately though, I was terrible at keeping them alive. I did everything the aquarium guys told me to do, but for some reason, the little buggers just kept dying on me! I became a familiar face at the aquarium during this period (not something that I am proud of..).
Eventually, I gave up and packed up the fish bowl. Since then, as I mentioned, the aquarium has closed and been turned into a cafe that does killer breakfasts. I'm a bit of a regular there now, and on one recent visit I found myself remembering all the fish that used to be there. I imagined their little ghosts swimming around the heads of the customers; an idea that I found a lot more cute than creepy... Anyway, that was what inspired this sketch.

EDIT: I forgot to mention that my ultimate favourite variety of goldfish were the pearlscales, AKA golfball fish. They are goofy little fish that are shaped like golfballs (as if that wasn't self-explanatory), and I LOVED them, so they are the fish you see here.

Like a tiger...
At the risk of sounding like a primary school kid, tigers have ALWAYS been my favourite animals. But for some reason, I've never really drawn them that much. Was googling tigers today and did this sketch..
