I've decided to reinvigorate this blog as it still probably gets more web traffic than all of my other social media combined.

A Zombie A Day on Tumblr.

Well, I'm finally gonna do it. I am moving to Tumblr. I have already transported this entire blog over there and that is where I will continue my journey. Sorry Blogger, you have served me well, but you are quite simply not "up-with-the-times". I may occasionally still drop in here and post the odd tidbit, but I expect my laziness will mean that will happen less and less.

Brush Pen sketches..

I have this Kuretake brush pen that I bought literally years ago when I was working at Iloura. Last night I did some doodles with it. I like it.

Tank Girl fan art.

This week I decided to enter the OzComics weekly Facebook challenge. I've been a silent observer for a couple of months now and have entertained the thought of jumping in, but it wasn't until they announced this topic that I could no longer resist temptation. Jamie Hewlett is a hero of mine and the fact that Tank Girl is just beyond awesome goes without saying. I've tried my best to do her justice here. I am not a very strong line artist, I feel like I work a lot better in a painterly style so this was a challenge for me. I obviously still have a lot to learn and since I was working entirely digitally I think my linework was somewhat restricted. It is missing those lovely blobs and shapes that happen naturally when done with real ink, and it's also, let's face it, just pretty messy and incoherent! I also chose to use a fairly restricted colour palette which I feel is working OK.. Overall this was a lot of fun and is quite different to my usual stuff. And now I had better get back to all the work and homework that I SHOULD have been doing these past two days....

Something I Did Today.

Trying something slightly different. Obviously my linework needs a whole crapload of work, but you learn by doing, right? (Also this is technically a lie, I went to the dermatologist a few weeks ago, but I've had this drawing in my head ever since..).

 

Barbarion cuties

Just did these little guys for fun. It's a portrait of Barbarion, a band some mates are in. They are big, manly men. I think I captured their likeness here!

A Drunk.

I keep hearing stories of moose feeding on fermented apples and ending up in compromising situations; ie. stuck up trees or in backyard swimming pools. It gave me a humourous image of a moose with a penchant for cider...

 

I couldn't think of anything funny that a drunk moose might say.... Suggestions welcome!

Quick zombie..

Zombies seem to have been following me around this month! They have appeared as the theme for several forums and competitions, and I have been watching The Walking Dead and playing Red Dead Redemption: Undead Nightmare (briefly... it's damn scary...). Anyway, with all these zombies around, I feel like I am the only artist I know who hasn't at least sketched one yet! Had some free time tonight for the first time in a while, so here 'tis.


P.S. I realise this is an unnaturally sassy looking zombie... it started as a sketch of a healthy human girl before I decided to zombify her. May do another one soon with the regulation vacant zombie expression that we all know so well...
